The racing engine oil formulations are specially designed for increased horsepower and reduced friction on metal parts, providing extra wear protection for high compression/higher horsepower engines. These oils are normally formulated with high phosphorus additives and other additional high cost additives which are not needed in day to day city driving.
With ever increasing limits on emissions, the car manufacturers have tightened emission control systems on newer vehicles since this is one of several factors considered when the American Petroleum Institute (API) sets standards for motor oil with phosphorus. Because phosphorus can poison a vehicle’s emission system which is the catalytic converter, the low level of phosphorus is set for current motor oils.
The phosphorus content in those racing oils could be as much as 75% higher than maximum allowance recommended by the current API standards.
Latest engine oils like Trisonic™ UltiMach 100SYN use a new type of zinc/phosphorus that maintain the high level of wear protection of the engine while saving the life of your car’s emission system.
