Are All Synthetic Oils Equally Good In Performances?

Article By: Dr Trisonic.

Not all engine oil are created equally.

Let starts with what is synthetic engine oil.

Synthetic oil is refined, distilled, purified and broken down into its basic molecules. This process removes a lot more impurities from the crude oil, but also enables individual molecules in the oil to be tailored to the demanding needs of an modern engine. These customized molecules provide higher levels of protection and performance than conventional mineral oils. While there is no firm industry definitions, the full synthetic engine oils typically use the highest quality base oil combination as a starting point.

But the synthetic base oil is only half the story. The quality of the performance additives that go into the mix to create the engine oil would be the most critical factor to determine the actual performance of the engine oil.

Take an example, a fully synthetic API SN can provide more performance and more protection to the gasoline engines than an API SJ fully synthetic oil. A fully synthetic API SN with OEM credentials (like BMW LL, MB 229, VW 502/505, etc) would allow longer drain interval than a standard fully synthetic API SN only oil.

Synthetic oil with high quality performance additive would cost more than a fully synthetic oil with lower quality performance oil. But for most vehicles, the benefits speak for themselves in the long run.

Trisonic™ UltiMach Gold 5W-40 is specially formulated with the highest quality of Performance Additives (EPT Technology) in synthetic oil that allows it to pass the stringent performance requirements by various car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi, etc.
